Lufkin, Texas – April 10, 2026 – MYCON General Contractors, in partnership with Brazos Transit District (BTD) is proud to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new East Texas Maintenance Facility, a 24,000-square-foot project designed to support the reliability and performance of fleet maintenance operations across East Texas.

While construction officially began in January 2026, community leaders, project partners, and stakeholders gathered on April 10th to commemorate this important investment in public transportation infrastructure. The facility, located at 5882 US Highway 59 North in Lufkin, Texas, is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

Purpose-built to enhance fleet operations, the new facility will serve as a centralized hub for vehicle maintenance, repair, and service. It will support preventative maintenance programs, streamline repair workflows, and improve turnaround times, ensuring Brazos Transit District’s vehicles remain safe, reliable, and ready to serve the community.

“This facility plays a critical role in keeping BTD vehicles and equipment running efficiently and safely,” said Rick Dubec, Senior Vice President at MYCON General Contractors. “We are proud to partner with Brazos Transit District to deliver a project that strengthens fleet reliability, improves operational efficiency, and ultimately supports the communities that depend on these services every day.”

“This East Texas Maintenance Facility reflects another meaningful step forward in our ongoing commitment to serve the people of East Texas with reliable, accessible public transportation,” said Wendy Weedon, CEO of Brazos Transit District.

“I support the Brazos Transit District because they effectively handle the transit needs of veterans, senior citizens, those with special needs and the Deep East Texas community. These individuals are an important part of our community and this organization does a great job providing assistance,” said Congressman Pete Sessions. “I maintain a close relationship with the needs of Deep East Texas and look forward to being with them to see their operations, as this is an important part of being a member of Congress.”

This project represents a meaningful investment in regional transportation infrastructure and highlights the continued leadership and advocacy of Congressman Pete Sessions. His commitment to investing in public transportation and community infrastructure continues to create lasting benefits for the region, ensuring agencies like Brazos Transit District have the resources needed to deliver reliable and efficient service.

The East Texas Maintenance Facility reflects a shared commitment to delivering high-quality infrastructure that serves communities and drives progress, underscoring the importance of meeting the evolving needs of Texas communities.
