Description

MYCON completed the interior demolition and two-level buildout of IKEA Dallas – University Park, marking the first IKEA store within Dallas city limits. Located at The Shops at Park Lane, the approximately 63,000-square-foot project transforms an existing retail space into a modern, urban-format store designed to bring IKEA’s accessible home furnishings experience closer to the Dallas community.

The scope included full interior demolition, structural modifications, and installation of a new storefront aligned with IKEA’s global brand standards. The two-level buildout features signature room settings, curated retail displays, and immediate takeaway product areas, along with the installation of a new large-format elevator to support seamless vertical circulation.

MYCON also constructed a full commercial kitchen to support IKEA’s in-store food offerings, requiring careful coordination of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Specialty lighting, custom millwork, and refined finish packages were executed to create a bright, modern retail environment consistent with IKEA’s design-driven identity.

Delivered within an active shopping center environment, the project required disciplined logistics planning and coordination to meet a fixed grand opening schedule. MYCON managed all phases of demolition and construction, ensuring quality execution and on-time delivery.

Conclusion

The completion of IKEA Dallas – University Park represents a significant retail milestone for the city of Dallas and reinforces MYCON’s ability to execute complex, high-profile retail buildouts. This project highlights MYCON’s expertise in adaptive reuse construction, structural modifications, and brand-focused delivery—bringing a globally recognized retailer into the heart of Dallas for the first time.
