Dallas, Texas, February 20, 2020 – On Wednesday, February 19th MYCON General Contractors, Inc. (MYCON) donated $35,000 to the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum (DHHRM) in honor of its new exhibition, The Fight for Civil Rights in the South.
“It is MYCON’s honor to present the museum with a donation that helped fund a powerful photo exhibition for its guests to experience and reflect upon,” said MYCON President and Chief Executive Officer, Charles R. Myers. “The Fight for Civil Rights in the South is presented by the Cinemark Theatres and the MYCON team is proud to support it along with the Carl B, and Florence E. King Foundation.” The Fight for Civil Rights in the South covers the African American struggle for civil rights and social equality in the 1960s.
MYCON partnered with Cinemark Theatres to build the new Cinemark theatre auditorium (completed in August 2019) in the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum. The 4,100 SF theatre features a 45.6-foot screen with an enhanced sound system, 250 seats on stadium risers, and a lecture stage with AV systems. “We were very pleased to be part of the team building this culturally significant project in the heart of Dallas,” says Justin Jeffus, senior vice president MYCON. OMNIPLAN Architects of Dallas designed the new building and Austin Commercial is the general contractor.
“We are grateful to MYCON for generously donating their services to build our beautiful Cinemark Theatre and for their tremendous financial contribution to our exhibition,” said Mary Pat Higgins, DHHRM President and Chief Executive Officer. “The theatre plays a vital role in enabling our mission of teaching the Holocaust and advancing human rights to combat prejudice, hatred, and indifference throughout year-round education programming speaker and movie series.”
