Project Details
Description
MYCON completed the comprehensive renovation of the historic Davis Building, now named The Drakestone, in downtown Dallas. Originally erected in 1926 as the Republic National Bank headquarters, The Drakestone underwent its most recent transformation in 2003, evolving into an urban infill mixed-use loft-style apartment community. This case study explores MYCON’s role in modernizing this iconic structure at 1309 Main Street into a 22-story, 500,000 SF, 183-unit marvel featuring retail spaces and an attached parking garage.
Built in 1926, The Drakestone holds historical significance as the former Republic National Bank headquarters. Over the years, the structure witnessed multiple transformations, with its most recent iteration as an urban infill mixed-use loft-style apartment community after the 2003 renovation. MYCON faced the challenge of preserving the historic charm of The Drakestone while modernizing it to meet contemporary living standards. The objectives included enhancing the building’s functionality, incorporating modern amenities, and maintaining its architectural integrity. The renovation introduced modern amenities, including a greenhouse, pool, and pool deck, elevating The Drakestone’s appeal as a residential community. A significant aspect of the project involved the complete reconstruction of the cupola, restoring a key architectural feature and preserving the building’s historical aesthetics. MYCON incorporated upscale finishes throughout the building, ensuring residents’ sophisticated and contemporary living experience.
MYCON’s renovation successfully transformed the Davis Building into The Drakestone, a harmonious blend of historic charm and modern luxury. The addition of amenities, the meticulous reconstruction of the cupola, and the incorporation of upscale finishes have revitalized the structure, making it a sought-after residential destination in downtown Dallas.
