Saint Michael the Archangel
Project Details
Description
Saint Michael the Archangel Church, initially established as a mission church in 1984 in south Grand Prairie, embarked on a significant expansion project to enhance its worship space and better reflect its Catholic identity. The journey began with the acquisition of a 14.3-acre site, leading to the construction of the first building in 1987. This initial structure served as a temporary worship space, classrooms, and offices. Additional classrooms and a fellowship space were later added in 2004. The challenge was to create a new sanctuary that not only accommodates the growing parish but also reflects a Catholic architectural style. In 2020, Saint Michael the Archangel Church collaborated with MYCON to bring the vision to life. MYCON undertook the task of constructing a new 1,000 seat sanctuary with a focus on both aesthetic and functional aspects.
MYCON’s construction team worked diligently to complete the project while ensuring that the existing facility remained fully operational. This required careful planning and execution to minimize disruptions to the church’s daily activities. The result was a newly constructed sanctuary that proudly showcased a distinctly Catholic architectural style, harmonizing with the church’s identity.
Features of the New Sanctuary:
- Distinctly Catholic Architectural Style: The new sanctuary stands out with its architectural design, incorporating elements that resonate with Catholic tradition and symbolism.
- Interior Functionality: The interior of the sanctuary was meticulously planned to align with the practices of the Parish. It provides a welcoming and functional space for worship, gatherings, and community events.
- Seamless Integration: Despite the challenges of working on an operational site, MYCON ensured that the construction process seamlessly integrated with the ongoing activities of the church.
Conclusion
The collaboration between Saint Michael the Archangel Church and MYCON exemplifies the successful execution of a construction project in a religious setting. The new sanctuary stands as a testament to the dedication of both entities in creating a space that not only meets the functional requirements but also resonates with the spiritual essence of the parish.
