Description

MYCON successfully completed the construction of a cutting-edge Public Storage facility in Southlake, Texas, spanning 135,000 square feet. This case study delves into the intricacies of this remarkable project, which posed unique challenges due to its location and structural complexity.

The Southlake Public Storage facility, encompassing 135,000 square feet, marked MYCON’s second collaboration with Public Storage. This project set out to create a modern storage space capable of accommodating a diverse range of storage needs for the local community. The skeleton of the facility was built using structural metal framing, complemented by structural metal stud walls. Four 3-story stair shafts and two elevator shafts served as critical structural elements, allowing for vertical access within the facility. In total, the facility houses 1,342 storage units of varying sizes, providing ample storage solutions to meet customer demands. One of the project’s standout challenges was its location between two active fueling stations. Tanker trucks arrived and departed every two minutes, creating a complex logistical scenario for construction. This challenge required meticulous planning and coordination to ensure the safety of workers and the uninterrupted flow of fueling operations. Stringent safety protocols were enforced to protect both construction workers and fueling station staff. The clear delineation of work zones and safe access routes ensured the safety of all personnel. MYCON carefully coordinated construction activities with the fueling station’s operating hours, ensuring minimal disruption to their workflow. With effective communication between construction teams and fueling station staff, established to address any immediate concerns or changes in fueling operations.

Conclusion

MYCON’s successful completion of the Southlake Public Storage facility exemplifies their expertise in navigating complex challenges while delivering exceptional construction projects. This modern storage facility not only addresses the community’s storage needs but also showcases the importance of meticulous planning and collaboration in overcoming unique challenges. MYCON’s commitment to safety and efficiency has transformed a potentially complex project into a symbol of innovation and excellence in the construction industry. MYCON was able to achieve the same success for several more Public Storage locations.
